Wolf Is Back in the Flames' Net, and It's Complicated
Devin Cooley left Tuesday's game against the Oilers with a lower-body injury, and just like that, Dustin Wolf was the starter again. The results, by all accounts, were mixed.
Wolf has been the backup since Cooley claimed the top job, and the two have been running close to even in terms of what they've produced this season — close enough that the gap between them is thin. But thin doesn't mean comfortable, and a redemption arc is only as good as the performances that build it. The early returns here weren't what Wolf needed.
No timeline on Cooley yet. Until there is one, Wolf carries the net, and Calgary doesn't have a third option with much standing. This is a two-goalie situation that just became a one-goalie situation, at least for now.
