Wiggins Carted Off; Baltimore's Cornerback Depth Is Now a Problem
Nate Wiggins went down in 1-on-1 drills Monday, carted off the practice field with a lower-body injury. Coach Jesse Minter offered cautious optimism — "I think there's optimism," was the exact phrasing — but gave no specifics on the severity. For a position that was already thin before camp opened, that's not a lot to hold onto.
The depth chart behind Wiggins is Marlon Humphrey, Chidobe Awuzie, and Amani Oruwariye — and Humphrey is playing out what may be the final year of his contract. The Ravens went into this offseason with cornerback flagged as a need, and nothing that has happened since has addressed it in any meaningful way. If Wiggins misses real time, Baltimore is asking Awuzie to carry a significant portion of the starting load, which is a different conversation than having him as a capable second option.
This comes three days after Zay Flowers limped off the field with a left quad contusion — day-to-day, thankfully, but the timing is a reminder of how quickly a training camp can shift. The Ravens spent the early part of this offseason investing heavily in the offensive line, and those moves made sense given what happened in 2025. The secondary, though, has not gotten the same attention, and the Wiggins injury makes that gap more visible.
The next week or two will clarify how serious this is. If Wiggins is back on the field quickly, it stays a scare. If he's not, Baltimore has a genuine problem at a position with no obvious internal solution.
