Watson gets an Exhibit 10 deal as the Lakers keep filling out the bottom of the roster

The Lakers signed Anton Watson to an Exhibit 10 contract, another low-stakes move in a long summer of roster assembly. These deals don't guarantee a spot on the opening-night roster — they're essentially training camp invitations with a modest financial incentive for players who stick around long enough to land in the G League.

Watson is a forward, which fits the profile of what this team has been quietly hunting all offseason. The forward depth problems that surfaced last spring — when the rotation was running on fumes by the final stretch — didn't disappear with the summer signings. Ziaire Williams and the other additions help, but the bottom of the depth chart still has room for competition.

Training camp is close, and the Lakers will have a crowded forward group sorting itself out. Watson will need to make an impression quickly. Most Exhibit 10 players don't make the cut, and that's fine — that's what the mechanism is for.
