Vita Vea Reportedly Wants Out to Las Vegas
The Vita Vea trade report surfaced Wednesday, and it's worth noting plainly: the star defensive tackle is reportedly interested in being dealt to the Raiders. No terms, no timeline, just the signal that he wants out and Las Vegas is the destination he has in mind.
For a defense that spent 2025 getting pushed around up front, the name lands with some weight. Vea has spent his career as one of the more disruptive interior linemen in the league — a space-eater who also generates pressure, which is a rarer combination than it sounds. The Raiders' current interior depth runs through Thomas Booker, Jonah Laulu, and Treven Ma'ae. That is a group that needs to prove itself, not one that commands fear.
The timing is notable given everything else Rob Leonard is managing. Maxx Crosby is Questionable heading into camp, McCoy's knee situation remains unresolved, and the secondary is still a work in progress. A plug-and-play interior presence would at least give the front office one fewer fire to tend. My read is that this is worth pursuing seriously — not because it fixes everything, but because the Raiders are short on proven defensive cornerstones and Vea is exactly that. Whether the asking price from Tampa Bay makes sense is the part we don't know yet.
