Towns left early against Chicago with a wrist injury. No timetable yet.
Karl-Anthony Towns went to the locker room in the first quarter of Wednesday's game against the Bulls after appearing to hurt his wrist. No update had come through by the time this went up, so the extent of it is still unknown.
It's early in the season, which is the one thing working in the Knicks' favor here. Towns is the centerpiece of a championship roster, and any significant absence would put real pressure on a frontcourt that already leaned on James Wiseman for depth after the Bruce Brown cut. Wiseman is on the roster precisely because the Knicks wanted insurance up front — this is a different kind of test than anyone had in mind, but that's the situation.
Worth noting that Jose Alvarado was already out earlier this week with a sprained ankle. The Knicks are a few games into defending a title and the injury list is already getting attention. Nothing to overread yet — wrist injuries cover a wide range — but Towns is the kind of player where you hold your breath until you hear otherwise.
