Tinsley is back. That tells you everything about where this receiver room stands.
Mitchell Tinsley was waived when Cincinnati finalized its 53-man roster at the end of August. He's back now, which means the Bengals have cycled a cut from their own roster back into the mix to cover for Andrei Iosivas — a receiver room solution that is, at best, lateral.
The Iosivas injury landed on a group that was already operating without meaningful depth. I noted it when it happened in late September: Tee Higgins is the only receiver on this roster who logged real production last season, and Ja'Marr Chase's knee has been a quiet concern since he limped off the practice field in August. That's a thin foundation. Tinsley filling the gap doesn't widen it.
My read is that this is a functional stopgap, not a fix. If Chase misses time — or if Higgins does — Cincinnati doesn't have a third option who has proven anything at this level. Tinsley being the answer to that question is less a roster move than a reminder of how little margin this offense has built behind its two stars.
