Three Starters, Two Weeks, One Game Against Buffalo
Detroit's offensive line situation has gone from concerning to genuinely complicated. Cade Mays went down with a wrist injury in August. Christian Mahogany's knee became a problem in Week 1. Now Juice Scruggs is questionable heading into Sunday, and the Lions are assembling contingency combinations along the interior with Buffalo coming to town.
The Bills are not a team you want to face while shuffling your line. Their front is built to make life difficult for quarterbacks, and Jared Goff — whatever his strengths — has never been at his best under duress. The depth chart shows Ben Bartch, Larry Borom, and Devin Cochran as the available interior options behind the starters, none of whom have logged meaningful snaps in the regular season. That's the reality Detroit is working with right now.
Penei Sewell is active and healthy, which matters. One anchor on the edge is better than none. But the interior is where Buffalo will probe, and the Lions don't have a clean answer for it at the moment. My read is that the next ten days are less about scheme and more about who is physically available to play — and that list has been shrinking faster than the coaching staff would like.
