The Offensive Line Situation, Summed Up: One Starter, Signed Days Ago, and Not Much Else
Paris Johnson Jr. is on injured reserve with a biceps tear, and I've now written about this left tackle situation enough times that the shape of it is familiar. What the angle asks me to revisit is the broader picture: Arizona signed Jedrick Wills, got him on the field, and that's essentially where the plan ends. Isaiah Adams is out. The depth chart behind Wills at tackle lists Austin Deculus and Demontrey Jacobs, neither of whom has logged meaningful snaps this season.
The context that keeps making this worse is what was already broken before Johnson went down. The team extended Hjalte Froholdt at center in August, which was a real anchor. But Chase Bisontis tore his MCL in the preseason, Adams' legal situation remains unresolved, and the line entered the season already patched together. Johnson's injury didn't create a fragile unit — it just removed the one piece that looked like it could hold.
Kyler Murray is five games into his season behind this group. That's the part worth watching heading into Week 5.
