Tank Dell's Return Window Is Open. Whether It Stays That Way Is the Question.

Tank Dell was placed on injured reserve August 30, which made him eligible to return no earlier than late September. The beat narrative has been tracking his window since then — he missed all of 2025, returned to limited practice in early August, and then went back down before the season started. There is no material news in the last 14 days confirming he has been activated, so the honest read here is that his timeline remains open rather than resolved.

What his potential return would mean is real enough. The receiver room as currently constructed came together through necessity — Kayshon Boutte acquired from New England, Jaylin Noel back from his own injury, Marvin Harrison Jr. now third on the depth chart after the trade. Nico Collins, the most productive option at 1,138 yards and six touchdowns last season, has been dealing with a hamstring issue. Dell, when healthy, is a different kind of weapon than anyone currently on that roster — a quick, contested-catch receiver who earned Stroud's trust before his injury derailed everything.

The caveat is obvious and has been obvious all year. This group has not stayed healthy for more than a few weeks at a stretch. Higgins is gone for the season. Collins has been in and out. The London trip added Blankenship to the questionable list. Every time the room looks like it might settle, something else happens. Dell coming back would help. Dell staying healthy after coming back would be the actual story.
