Surtain Is Doubtful Now, Not Questionable
Pat Surtain II's status moved from Questionable to Doubtful, which is a meaningful step in the wrong direction. When I noted last week that Denver's secondary was already operating on thin margin with both Surtain and Riley Moss banged up, Doubtful wasn't the update anyone wanted. Moss remains Questionable. That's the corner room right now.
Behind them, the depth chart lists Ja'Quan McMillian and Sean Fresch at cornerback — neither has logged meaningful snaps this season. The safety group is a separate problem Denver has been carrying all year: Brandon Jones has handled nearly everything back there, with Taylor Rapp a distant second and Ha Ha Clinton-Dix further behind. The drop-off from Jones to anyone else is severe.
The secondary was already the position where Denver could least afford an injury. That was true before Surtain's status changed. It's more true now.
