Sunday night in Seattle was Walker's homecoming, and it wasn't close
Kenneth Walker III won Super Bowl 60 MVP as a Seahawk, then left for Kansas City when Seattle made clear re-signing him wasn't a priority. Six games into his Chiefs tenure, he has 669 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground, plus two more scores through the air. The news out of Seattle this week noted that Walker has outrushed the entire Seahawks team by himself this season. That's the kind of detail that writes its own caption.
The reunion had some built-in drama — Sunday Night Football, Lumen Field, the guy who just won them a championship coming back in the other team's colors. Seattle's run defense was already shorthanded; Zach Charbonnet was ruled out after being activated from the PUP list, and the broader injury report didn't do the home team any favors. Walker didn't need the help, but he got it anyway.
What's worth noting from the Kansas City side is how central he's become to everything Reid is doing offensively. He's not just a between-the-tackles runner — the 14 receptions this season show a back who can stress a defense in multiple ways. The Chiefs are 5-1 and averaging better than six points per game more than their opponents. A lot of that math runs through him.
