Suamataia back at left guard in Week 6 is the first good offensive line news in a month

Kingsley Suamataia is expected to return to left guard in Week 6, and after the stretch this line has been through, that qualifies as genuine good news. Josh Simmons went down with a bulging disk in late September, and the front five has been reshuffled ever since. Suamataia sliding back into his spot doesn't solve everything, but it gives the coaching staff a five-man combination they can actually count on for more than a week at a time.

The depth chart has Jaylon Moore and Joshua Ezeudu ahead of Suamataia on the interior, so his return doesn't hand him a starting role outright — but the angle here is continuity more than any individual snap count. Mahomes is working back from a torn ACL and LCL, and the last thing a quarterback in that situation needs is a reshuffled line every other game. Whatever chemistry exists up front, it compounds with reps.

Simmons remains Questionable, so the left tackle question isn't resolved. But getting Suamataia back is at least a fixed point. The offensive line has been the quieter crisis running alongside the receiver room all month, and this is the first piece of it that has moved in the right direction.
