Reid Sits at Halftime After Falling Short of Team Standards

Naz Reid was benched at halftime of Wednesday's loss to the Pistons, the Hornets citing that he had not met "our standards." That's a blunt message to deliver to a newly acquired player this early in the season, and it was delivered publicly.

Reid ranks first among Charlotte's centers by playing time, so this isn't a depth-chart shuffle — it's a conduct flag. The organization is drawing a line, and they drew it in the second quarter of a loss, which tends to make the point clearly.

Nothing in the injury report connects to this. The Hornets made a choice. Worth watching how Reid responds when the next game comes around.
