Raiders Add Fatukasi Up Front, but the Secondary Question Hasn't Gone Away

Las Vegas signed defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi on Saturday, adding a veteran with starting experience from his two seasons in Houston to a defensive line that needed the body. Fatukasi's 2025 was cut short by injury, so there's some health history to monitor, but the Raiders clearly liked what they saw in his profile and moved quickly once he was available.

It's a reasonable pickup. The interior of the defensive line had been a quiet concern through the early weeks of camp, and Fatukasi gives Rob Leonard something to work with up front. As I noted after the August 11 practice, Leonard's player-led philosophy is only as good as the players available to execute it — and adding a proven starter to that room helps.

What it doesn't fix is the secondary. Jermod McCoy, who missed all of 2025 with a knee injury, was cleared to begin camp recovery in early July but remains Questionable. That status hasn't moved. The cornerback depth behind him — Chigozie Anusiem, Decamerion Richardson, Greedy Vance — is young and largely unproven at the NFL level. With Devin White already gone to Detroit, the defense has absorbed a lot of departures and question marks in a short window.

Fatukasi is a good addition. The Raiders just still haven't answered the part of the roster that worries me most heading into Week 1.
