Quentin Lake and Damarion Williams Are About to Find Out What They've Got
Yesterday I wrote that the Rams were running out of bodies in the secondary. Now the question is who exactly is left. McDuffie and Curl are both questionable heading into Arizona, which means the back end of this defense could fall to Quentin Lake and Damarion Williams — the depth chart's next names, not its planned starters.
Garrett is already on IR. That was the defensive line. This is the secondary. Two separate fires, same building. The Rams came into 2026 having invested heavily in the back end — McDuffie's arrival was supposed to give them a legitimate cornerstone alongside Curl, who logged 149 tackles last season and has been one of the more reliable presences on this defense all year. Losing both of them, even for one game, changes what Arizona can attempt.
The road piece of this matters too. The Rams went 5-4 away from home last season, and close games on the road were where things came apart. A secondary missing two of its three recognizable pieces is not the configuration you want heading into a hostile environment, particularly against an offense that will test the edges immediately.
Lake and Williams may be fine. They're on the roster for a reason. But this is the kind of week where the depth either holds or it doesn't, and the Rams won't know until Sunday.
