Porter Jr. Has One Game Under His Belt and a Question Mark Over Sunday
Joey Porter Jr. has been in Dallas long enough to play one game, and the Cowboys are already back to holding their breath over his availability. He's listed Questionable for Sunday, which puts the team in a familiar spot — a secondary addition that hasn't yet had the chance to become a secondary solution.
The organization's public posture is that he's committed and engaged, all-in on the situation. That may well be true. But one game is a thin foundation, and with Cobie Durant already ruled Out and the depth chart behind Malik Hooker still essentially empty of anyone who's played meaningful snaps, the margin for Porter Jr. missing time is about zero. DeMarvion Overshown is also Questionable, so the Cowboys are potentially heading into Sunday with two of their more notable defensive names in the same uncertain column.
This is the secondary that was already a concern before the season started — and it hasn't gotten easier to watch since. Whether Porter Jr. suits up or not, the Cowboys will find out quickly what they actually have back there.
