Packers add long snapper, receiver as camp depth work continues
Green Bay signed Cal Adomitis and Kaden Prather on July 30, adding a veteran long snapper with starting experience in Cincinnati and Philadelphia and a receiver who won a UFL title with the Louisville Kings this spring. Neither move reshapes the roster. Both fit the same pattern the front office has been running all camp.
That pattern is familiar by now. Thomas Yassmin came in at tight end on July 28. The kicker spot turned over the same day. Banks and Stackhouse cleared the PUP list on July 29. The Packers are methodically filling out the bottom of the depth chart, position by position, because the bottom is where December fell apart — a four-game losing streak that flipped a positive point differential into a negative one and exposed how thin things got when the starters wore down.
The long snapper addition is the most practically useful of the two moves. Matt Orzech is currently out, and Adomitis brings genuine starting reps from two NFL stops. Prather is a camp body at receiver, though his UFL run at least confirms he can play at a professional level. Neither is a solution to anything significant. They are, at this stage of camp, exactly what they look like: the Packers doing the unglamorous work of making sure the roster doesn't crack at the seams the way it did last winter.
