No second rusher has logged a meaningful snap all season. That's the whole problem.
Montez Sweat's PED suspension takes him off the field for two games, and the Bears' pass rush goes with him. The depth chart at defensive end lists Dayo Odeyingbo second — but Odeyingbo is listed as doubtful, and no other defensive end has logged meaningful snaps this season. Shemar Turner is on the roster. That's what's available.
This was already the thinnest position on the defense before the suspension. I noted it when Davenport was released and again when Sweat drew the Green Bay assignment. The issue hasn't changed; it's just more acute now. The Bears built their defensive end rotation around one player, and that player is currently unavailable.
T.J. Edwards is also doubtful, which means the linebacker depth behind Devin Bush is shaky at the same time. The secondary remains short — Kyler Gordon is out, Anthony Johnson Jr. is on injured reserve. The Bears are not a team that can absorb this kind of simultaneous attrition. They won close games last year by executing in tight moments. Without a pass rusher, those moments get harder to control.
