Milwaukee Clinches the NL Central, Rotation Holes and All
The Brewers have won the NL Central for the fourth consecutive year, locking up the division's top seed at 87–50 with 25 games remaining. The magic number sits at 21, meaning the clinch came with room to spare — a testament to how consistently this organization has built and maintained division-level depth even as the injury list has grown.
The caveat is hard to ignore. Brandon Woodruff remains on the 60-day IL, joined by Quinn Priester, Angel Zerpa, Brian Fitzpatrick, Rob Zastryzny, Bryse Wilson, and Grant Anderson — seven pitchers unavailable in some form. Jacob Misiorowski (16–5, 2.15 ERA) has been the rotation's load-bearing wall, with Kyle Harrison, Shane Drohan, Chad Patrick, and Robert Gasser filling innings behind him. It is enough to win a division. Whether it is enough for October is a separate question.
Jake Bauers (.338/.441/.645, 1.085 OPS) and All-Star catcher William Contreras have anchored an offense that has scored 7.4 runs per game over its last 10. The lineup has carried its share of the weight, and then some. The division banner is real. The roster fragility is equally real, and it will follow this team into the postseason.
