Max Clark Is Coming to Detroit
The Tigers' top prospect is being promoted for his major league debut, per reports. Max Clark, the outfielder Detroit took with a high pick in the 2023 draft, is making the jump from Triple-A to the 40-man roster — arriving in the middle of a season that has gone sideways in almost every direction at once.
The timing is worth noting. With Tarik Skubal reportedly on his way out of town and the offense scoring fewer than three runs a game over the last ten, the front office is essentially signaling what the next chapter looks like. Clark has been regarded as one of the better outfield prospects in the system for a while now — a toolsy, left-handed hitter with speed and defensive range. What he's done at Triple-A this year isn't in the grounding, so I won't put numbers on it, but the organization clearly decided he's ready, or ready enough.
Detroit's outfield depth has been shuffled all season — Parker Meadows on the 60-day IL, Jahmai Jones traded to Boston — so there's a real role available, not just a cup-of-coffee cameo. Whether Clark gets regular at-bats or eases in off the bench depends on how the next few days shake out, especially with the Skubal trade likely to reshape the roster further. Either way, he's here, and that's the news.
