Lamb Exits Thursday Night, and the Offense Joins the Injury List
CeeDee Lamb left Thursday's game and is listed as Questionable, which for a team that has spent the better part of two months watching its defense dissolve piece by piece, feels like the floor dropping out from under the one side of the ball that was supposed to hold. The depth chart behind Lamb at receiver is thin in a way that isn't a matter of opinion — Dallas carried essentially one wide receiver with meaningful playing time last season, and that was Lamb herself. George Pickens is there, and he was the team's most productive receiver in 2025 with 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. But the drop-off after those two has been a known problem all year.
Jalen Tolbert is the next name on the depth chart with any real game experience, and his role last season was limited. Jonathan Mingo is active and available. That's roughly the inventory. It's not nothing, but it's not enough to absorb a prolonged absence from the team's primary route-runner without Prescott having to compensate through volume elsewhere — most likely through Jake Ferguson, who was quietly one of the more reliable targets in the offense last year.
The timing is what makes this sting. Dallas spent the last few weeks finally getting some defensive pieces back in place — Porter Jr. added to the secondary, Tyler Smith back at practice after thumb surgery. The offense was the one area that didn't feel like it needed emergency management. Now it does. Lamb's Questionable tag doesn't mean she's done, but it means the next few days matter, and the Cowboys don't have a lot of margin if this one lingers.
