Kubiak Says Jeanty Is Mending. That's Enough for Now.
Two days after Ashton Jeanty was helped off the practice field, head coach Klint Kubiak offered what amounted to a cautious exhale: the running back is "on the mend," and the injury appears unlikely to cost him the season. Jeanty is listed as questionable, which is where things stand. No timeline, no clearance — just the suggestion that the worst-case scenario isn't the one they're dealing with.
That matters more to this offense than almost anything else. Jeanty carried the Raiders' ground game through a 3–14 season, finishing with 975 rushing yards and five touchdowns while also contributing meaningfully as a receiver. Brock Bowers is healthy and active. Tre Tucker is active. The pieces that were supposed to make 2026 different from 2025 are still, technically, in place. But Jeanty is the one who makes the run game a genuine threat, and without him that part of the offense becomes considerably easier to defend.
The Raiders don't need a full answer today. They need one before the regular season opens. Until then, questionable is livable — just not comfortable.
