Jalen Williams Stretchered Off Against the Clippers
Late in the fourth quarter Sunday, Thunder guard Jalen Williams went up for a dunk against the Clippers and came down wrong. He was helped off the floor on a stretcher after suffering a significant injury to his left leg, leaving the building shaken — players, coaches, fans, everyone in the arena.
No official diagnosis had been released as of Sunday night. What's clear is that Williams, OKC's second guard behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, is out for the foreseeable future. The depth chart at guard already runs thin past SGA — Josh Dix is the third option there — and the Thunder also waived rookie Otega Oweh earlier this week, so the roster has less cushion than it did even a few days ago.
The timing is rough. A week ago I noted that the Wallace extension felt like OKC exhaling after a long hold. This is the breath going back out. More on Williams's status when the team speaks.
