Jacksonville's corner room has been covered. Here's what hasn't changed.
This is the third time this subject has come up in a few days, and the situation remains the same: Dane Jackson retired before playing a snap for Jacksonville, the depth chart at cornerback lists Keni-H Lovely, Jabbar Muhammad, and Preston Hodge, and none of them have meaningful production on file from last season. That's the room heading into camp.
The broader defensive picture isn't much more settled. The safety group behind the starters is similarly thin, and the defensive tackle depth is a known concern — Quinton Bohanna leads that chart, but there's not much behind him with established playing time. Jacksonville won 13 games last year on the strength of an offense that Lawrence and Etienne carried through the second half. The defense didn't have to be great. In 2026, that margin may not be there.
My read: the corner situation is the most visible gap, but it's part of a larger pattern on that side of the ball. The front office spent the offseason locking up the offensive core — Strange's extension, the backfield additions — and the defensive depth questions are still sitting there unanswered as camp opens. At some point that has to get addressed. It hasn't yet.
