Ioane Is Still at Center. That's Still the Plan.
Both Ethan Pocic and Jovaughn Gwyn remain listed out, so the situation I noted a few days ago hasn't changed: Vega Ioane, the No. 14 overall pick Baltimore used specifically to upgrade its interior guard play, is the starting center. The depth chart lists Adam Redmond at the top of the center slot, but Ioane is the one taking the snaps. That's where things stand.
The Ravens spent the offseason making a deliberate argument that protecting Lamar Jackson required real investment up front. Ioane was the centerpiece of that argument — only the second first-round offensive lineman in franchise history. The idea was to put him next to a veteran center, let him learn the position he was drafted for, and build from there. Danny Pinter's torn patella tendon in August collapsed that plan before the season started, and Gwyn's injury has now collapsed the fallback. Ioane is the fallback.
Ronnie Stanley remains questionable, which adds another variable to a line that has already been reshuffled multiple times. Andrew Vorhees is active and provides some interior depth. But the Ravens are now asking a rookie to play a position he didn't train for, behind a center depth chart that has been wiped out entirely. That's the situation heading into this week, and there's no obvious short-term fix in the news.
