Hunter Did Both Jobs in the Same Game
Travis Hunter caught a touchdown pass and picked off a quarterback in the same game Sunday — the first player to do that since 2002, according to the league. That's the kind of footnote that usually gets filed under trivia, but it means something real for Jacksonville, because Hunter has been limited to seven games this season and the Jaguars have been waiting on proof that the two-way experiment holds up under actual game conditions.
It held up. Hunter came into the season with 28 catches for 298 yards and one receiving touchdown on the offensive side, and one interception to his name on defense — modest numbers spread across those seven appearances, the kind of line that left the concept more theoretical than proven. Sunday collapsed the theory into a single afternoon.
The secondary context matters here. Jacksonville has been patching its back-end coverage since Caleb Ransaw went to Injured Reserve, and Jourdan Lewis and Alijah Huzzie were activated specifically to fill that gap. Hunter's interception isn't just a highlight — it's a functional contribution to a unit that needed one. The Jaguars don't have the depth to carry passengers in the secondary, so every snap Hunter gives them on that side of the ball has real weight behind it.
Seven games is still a small sample, and Hunter's availability has been the persistent question mark around the whole arrangement. But Sunday was the clearest evidence yet that when he's on the field, Jacksonville is genuinely getting two players for one roster spot.
