Humphrey Is the No. 2 Receiver Now, and Nick Williams Is Behind Him
Pat Bryant is on injured reserve, and I already noted that when it happened. What's worth a second look is where the depth chart actually sits now that the move is settled. Courtland Sutton leads the room. Lil'Jordan Humphrey is the clear second option. After that, Nick Williams holds the third spot without a single meaningful snap of production from this season to his name.
That's a thin room by any measure. Denver was already carrying only two receivers with real playing time before Bryant went down, and the drop from Sutton to Humphrey is steep — Humphrey has handled about a fifth of the receiver production, Sutton the other four-fifths. That's not a one-two punch; that's a starter and a depth piece asked to split the load.
The Broncos added Kyre Duplessis and Kyrese Rowan earlier in the year for exactly this kind of contingency, but neither has logged the kind of snaps that would make them a reliable fallback right now. My read is Denver is managing this week to week and hoping Sutton stays healthy, because if he doesn't, the math gets uncomfortable fast.
