Houston's Two-Way Trio Rounds Out the Roster
The Rockets wrapped up their offseason roster construction by adding three two-way players — Quadir Copeland, Sean Pedulla, and Rafael Castro — filling out the depth chart as training camp draws close. It's the kind of move that doesn't change the ceiling but tidies up the bottom of the roster, and Houston needed bodies given how much of the summer was spent patching the backup center situation and adding perimeter help above the two-way line.
The timing is worth noting. The front office has now done essentially everything it can do from a roster-building standpoint. The core is locked in, the extensions are signed, the two-way spots are filled. What the organization can't control is the health of Durant, VanVleet, and Adams, all three of whom remain in maintenance mode as camp approaches — a situation I've been tracking since mid-July with no meaningful update since.
That's the backdrop for these signings landing when they did. A full and healthy roster on paper, with three of its most important pieces still not cleared for full activity. The two-way additions are fine; Copeland and Pedulla offer guard depth, and Castro gives the front office another center option. But the real question heading into camp isn't who fills the two-way slots. It's whether Houston can get its top players on the floor together before the regular season begins.
