Hill to Kansas City is still a rumor. Here is what is actually true right now.
Thornton is out. Rice is Questionable and hasn't been fully sharp with Mahomes since before his legal situation. Xavier Worthy is back to Active, which helps, but the depth behind those three is thin. That's the factual state of the receiver room entering this week, and it's why the Hill conversation has picked up volume.
I wrote last week that the name was going to come up, and it has. What I'd note now is that the conversation is mostly happening outside the building. There's no transaction in the news corpus, no reported talks, nothing grounded beyond the logic of the situation — which is real, but logic and a deal are different things. Hill spent his first five seasons in Kansas City before the Miami trade, so the familiarity with Mahomes and Reid's system is genuine. That part of the argument holds. Whether he's available, willing, or physically what he was is a separate question, and I don't have answers to any of those.
What Kansas City does have is a short-term problem that gets worse if Rice doesn't clear Questionable status. My read is that the front office is looking at options — it would be strange if they weren't — but until something moves, Hill is a name that fits the need, not a solution to it.
