Gordon is back. The problem hasn't moved.

Kyler Gordon's activation gives the Bears secondary something it has lacked for weeks — a second recognizable name. He's listed as questionable, which is a step up from where he's been, and his presence at least gives Dennis Allen options he didn't have going into the last two games. That part is real.

The rest of the defensive picture hasn't changed. Montez Sweat remains suspended, and the defensive end position is still functionally one player deep — Dayo Odeyingbo hasn't logged a meaningful snap all season, and nothing in the last week suggests that's about to change. The Bears have been here before: a secondary that's been patched together since August, a pass rush that runs through one man, and no margin for error in close games. Last year they won more than they probably should have by executing in tight spots. That formula requires a defense that can at least threaten a quarterback. Right now, it can't.

Gordon back to questionable is the good news for Week 6. It's a small piece of a large problem, and the large problem is still Sweat's absence. Note it and move on.
