Giannis and Bam Are Both Listed Day-to-Day. That's the Camp Story.

The headline from the season preview circulating this week is Pat Riley landing Giannis Antetokounmpo. The footnote buried underneath it is that both Giannis and Bam Adebayo are managing their health as camp gets underway — day-to-day designations that the organization is treating as routine but that are worth watching given what this roster is built around.

I covered the Amsler departure when it happened and again when the Lakers made it official, so I'll leave that thread alone. What I'll note is that the front office is thinner now than it was in June, and the two players whose health matters most to Miami's season are not yet practicing without restriction. That's a lot of load-bearing weight concentrated in a narrow space.

The supporting pieces are in place. Wiggins is locked in, Larsson got his extension last week, Klay Thompson is here for what he's calling a redemption run, and Davion Mitchell gives them a real playmaker off the ball. The roster construction is coherent. But coherent rosters become contenders when the stars are healthy and available, and right now Miami is managing both of theirs simultaneously before the first real practice rep has been logged. Worth keeping an eye on over the next week or two.
