Four Kings Still Day-to-Day, and the Injury Report Isn't Getting Shorter
Already wrote this note once this week. LaVine, Sabonis, Murray, and Hunter are all still day-to-day, and the designations have now stretched well past the point where you'd expect a minor August ailment to clear. That's four of Sacramento's most important players in a holding pattern as training camp approaches.
The one that matters most, obviously, is LaVine. He played 43 games last season — the entire case for this rebuild rests on him being available and productive across something closer to a full year. Sacramento moved off DeRozan, who gave them 18.1 points a night on nearly 50 percent shooting across 80 games, and replaced that production with a player whose per-game numbers are slightly better but whose availability has been the persistent question. That question is still open in mid-August.
Sabonis and Murray going day-to-day alongside LaVine doesn't help the optics. Westbrook, Monk, and Raynaud are the continuity pieces here, and they'll be fine. But Sacramento's ceiling in 2026-27 was always contingent on its new pieces arriving healthy and ready — and right now, the four players most central to that picture are all flagged at once.
The schedule is already out. The NBA Cup opener against San Antonio and De'Aaron Fox is circled. The Kings just can't get to any of it until this injury report starts moving.
