Fleury and Rutherford Headline Pittsburgh's 2026 Hall of Fame Class

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced their 2026 Hall of Fame class this week, with Marc-André Fleury and Jim Rutherford among the inductees set to be honored this fall. Fleury spent the better part of a decade as the franchise's starting goaltender, backstopping three Stanley Cup championships alongside Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Rutherford served as general manager during that dynasty run before departing for Vancouver, where he has since moved into a senior advisory role.

The timing gives the announcement a particular weight. Crosby and Malkin are still on the roster — Malkin re-signed this summer at 40 — but the organization finished 41–41 last season and missed the playoffs, and the offseason has been defined by roster turnover and unresolved questions about direction. Honoring the architects and symbols of the championship era while the current team navigates an uncertain transition is a natural inflection point for the franchise.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for this fall.
