Filip Bystedt's NHL Debut Is Finally Here

Four years after San Jose selected him in the draft, forward Filip Bystedt is set to make his NHL debut with the Sharks. The wait has been a long one by any measure — most players drafted in his range either reach the league or move on well before the four-year mark.

Bystedt's arrival comes as the Sharks continue a rebuild that has been defined by patience and youth development. Macklin Celebrini, who scored twice including an overtime power-play winner against Montreal last week, has been one of the more visible names in that process. Bystedt now joins that group of young forwards getting their first extended look at the NHL level.

No further details on the timing or circumstances of the call-up were available beyond the announcement. The debut itself will say more than the wait did.
