Eight Players Out, Roster Gets Shorter

St. Louis assigned six players to Springfield on Saturday and returned two junior prospects to their respective clubs — Danegais back to Quebec, Proskurin to Victoria. The group heading to the AHL includes Pekarcik, Stancl, Robertsson, Buchinger, Fischer, and Gahagen. Standard late-camp trimming.

The cuts narrow the picture of who management believes can help right now. After a summer that brought in Mason McTavish, Connor McMichael, and Oskar Sundqvist, the forward group has genuine competition for spots; sending Pekarcik and the others down clarifies the pecking order without resolving it entirely. A few more moves still figure to come before the roster firms up.

The defensive side of the ledger remains the one worth watching. Brandon Carlo's timeline is still unclear, and the blue line was the reason last season fell apart — not the offense. These cuts don't touch that problem. They just make the camp picture a little cleaner while the harder questions stay open.
