Dobbins Is Questionable, and There Is No One Behind Him
J.K. Dobbins is listed as Questionable for Week 2, which is the kind of injury tag that would be a minor inconvenience on most rosters. On this one it's a different conversation. The depth chart behind him at running back shows Tyler Badie and Cody Schrader, neither of whom logged a meaningful snap last season. There is no viable backup. The roster analysis flagged this explicitly before the season started, and here we are in Week 2 already stress-testing it.
With RJ Harvey also trending toward missing this game, the backfield situation has compressed fast. Harvey carried a real workload last season — 597 rushing yards and seven touchdowns — and his absence was already going to shift the burden. If Dobbins can't go either, Denver is asking Badie to run the offense's ground game against a defense that will know exactly what's coming.
Dobbins himself only played ten games last season before his availability became an issue, so this isn't the first time Denver has had to manage around his status. The Broncos extended him in the offseason precisely because they believe in him as the anchor. That bet looks fine when he's healthy. Right now he's Questionable, his backup is unavailable, and the next man up has no track record. That's the whole backfield situation in one sentence.
