Dingler Wins Back-to-Back Gold Gloves, Joining Rare Tigers Catching Company

Dillon Dingler has won the AL Gold Glove at catcher for the second consecutive year, becoming the fourth Tigers catcher in franchise history to claim back-to-back honors at the position. The award was announced November 2nd.

Dingler was Detroit's most decorated player in a difficult 2026 season, earning an All-Star selection alongside Riley Greene and Kevin McGonigle. He finished the year hitting .236/.312/.476 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI across 67 games — the power production of a catcher who contributes on both sides of the ball, even in a season where the team finished 76–86.

The back-to-back distinction is a notable organizational bright spot heading into the offseason. Detroit's 2026 season was defined largely by what it lost — Tarik Skubal dealt at the deadline, a rotation that frayed under injury, a roster that cycled through the IL all year. Dingler's award is one of the few clean positives to carry into the winter.
