Cooper Cleared, for Whatever That's Worth Now
Omar Cooper Jr. has moved off the injury report to questionable, which counts as progress given where this receiver room has been. He was back at practice a couple weeks ago, and the ankle issue that kept him sidelined appears to have loosened its grip enough to at least put him in the conversation for game day.
The problem is the room he's returning to. Adonai Mitchell is out after finger surgery with no clear timeline back. Garrett Wilson is active and remains the only reliable target Geno Smith can count on — that hasn't changed since September and it hasn't gotten easier. Isaiah Williams is healthy and on the depth chart, but the Jets have been leaning on Wilson so heavily precisely because the options behind him keep disappearing.
Cooper coming back doesn't fix that, but it at least gives Smith a second name to work with. A questionable tag means nothing is guaranteed yet, and this team has seen enough "almost available" turn into "back on IR" to know better than to plan around it. Call it a cautious positive and leave it there.
