Concepcion's Head Injury Leaves Cleveland's Receiver Room Even Thinner
KC Concepcion left Sunday's loss to the Jets with a head injury, and for a receiving corps that was already operating on fumes, it's another name to add to a list that keeps growing.
The depth problem here isn't new. Jerry Jeudy and Harold Fannin Jr. are the only two wideouts who have logged meaningful snaps this season, and the drop-off to James Proche behind them is severe — my read, based on what I've watched all year, is that Proche functions more as a roster placeholder than a genuine rotation piece. Tylan Wallace is on the depth chart in name. That's about the extent of it.
Concepcion's status going forward isn't clear yet, and head injuries carry their own timeline. But the structural issue doesn't wait for a medical report. Cleveland was already flagged as critically thin at the position, with only two wideouts carrying any real production share. Losing a third contributor — even a developing one — narrows the margin further in a season that has very little margin left to give.
The Browns are 5-12 and eliminated. The games still matter for evaluation purposes, and that's precisely why this injury stings: the back half of the schedule was supposed to be a look at what the young pieces can do. Fewer healthy bodies means fewer answers.
