Concepcion Just Put His Name in the Franchise Record Book
KC Concepcion's 129 receiving yards against Tennessee on Saturday placed him in the top 10 for a single game by a rookie receiver in Browns history. Worth noting on its own. Worth noting more given where this position group was two weeks ago.
I wrote in mid-October that Concepcion's head injury left the receiver room even thinner than it already was — a room that, entering the season, had only Jerry Jeudy seeing meaningful playing time. The depth chart behind Jeudy has been a structural problem all year, and Concepcion's emergence is the closest thing to a solution Cleveland has found. His season line across seven games — 25 catches for 213 yards — doesn't jump off the page, but the Tennessee game was something different. That's a player making a statement in a moment that called for one.
The Browns are 5-2, first in the AFC North, with 10 games left. The offense has leaned heavily on Denzel Boston's deep-ball production and Harold Fannin Jr.'s work underneath. Jeudy has been steady. What the group has lacked is a second receiver who can take over a game. Saturday was the first real evidence Concepcion might be that guy.
