Camp Is Down to 28. The Crease Is Still Down to Hart.

Vegas made another round of cuts Wednesday — nine players to Henderson, five placed on waivers — and the roster is now at 28 with six days until Chicago comes to town. Routine camp housekeeping, mostly. Except the goaltending situation came through it unchanged, which at this point is its own kind of news.

Carter Hart and Adin Hill are still the two names on the depth chart, and that's been the answer every time this question has come up since June. The backup situation has been the thread running through everything I've written about this team since the summer — Schmid gone to Florida, Hutchinson retired, the crease left thin. Wednesday's cuts didn't touch any of that.

Raphaël Lavoie is also day-to-day after an undisclosed injury, which is a smaller problem but a real one for a team still sorting its forward depth. The bigger item is what didn't happen: Vegas trimmed the roster by 14 players over the last three days and didn't add a goaltender in either wave. Six days out, Hart is the plan, Hill is the plan, and there is no visible contingency beyond that.
