Burns Is Up. Lindstein Is Down. The Blues Keep Shuffling.
Quinton Burns, a third-round pick in the 2023 draft, has been recalled from Springfield and will make his NHL debut — the first time he's been on an NHL roster in his career. He had one assist in seven games with the Thunderbirds this season before the call came. Theo Lindstein, who opened the year with the big club and played four games, was sent back to the AHL the same day Burns came up.
The back-and-forth on the blue line is worth noting. Torey Krug remains on injured reserve, and with Philip Broberg, Cam Fowler, and Colton Parayko holding down the top spots in the depth chart, there isn't much margin. Burns steps into that thin air now.
The organization is also reportedly in the mix for Detroit's Simon Edvinsson, per Pierre LeBrun, which suggests the front office knows what the depth chart shows. Burns getting his debut is a real moment for him. Whether it stays a moment or becomes something more probably depends on what happens at the trade level in the next couple of weeks.
