Atlanta week. Williams plays. The pass rush is still one man.
Caleb Williams is active and Kyler Gordon is back in the secondary, which means the Bears are heading into the Falcons game with something closer to a functional offense and a secondary that has two recognizable names in it. That's the good news, and it's real. Williams returning matters.
The part that hasn't changed: Montez Sweat remains suspended, and the depth chart at defensive end still bottoms out almost immediately behind him. Shemar Turner is listed there, but he hasn't logged meaningful snaps all season. That's been the story for weeks now — the Bears can dress it up with secondary additions, but the pass rush is structurally one player, and that player isn't on the field right now.
Gordon's return helps the back end. Williams healthy helps the front end of the score. Neither of those things puts a second rusher on the field Sunday. The Bears won a lot of close games last year by executing in tight moments; the margin for that kind of winning gets narrower when opposing quarterbacks have time to find their third read. Atlanta will notice.
