Arden Key Is Out. The Colts Are Managing Two Crises at Once.
Arden Key is out, the injury list confirms it, and the Colts head into Week 5 now dealing with damage on both sides of the ball simultaneously. The defensive end depth chart already ran thin — George Gumbs is the only name listed at the position — and losing a starter there is a real problem regardless of what else is happening.
What else is happening: the receiving room that collapsed in September hasn't recovered. Pierce is on injured reserve. Keenan Allen missed Week 4 with a groin injury and his availability going forward remains unclear. Josh Downs is the top wideout on the active depth chart, and he's been carrying that role longer than anyone planned. Jones is active and has been functional — 19 touchdowns against 8 interceptions over 13 games is a reasonable line — but the personnel around him keeps thinning.
Two separate injury tracks, one team. That's the Week 5 situation in Indianapolis.
