Adams Is Out, and the Right Guard Spot Has No Real Answer Behind Him
Isaiah Adams is listed out, and the Cardinals are heading into Week 1 without a viable replacement at right guard. Adams has been dealing with legal jeopardy stemming from a guns and gangs investigation all offseason — that situation hasn't resolved, and now his availability is gone too. The depth chart behind him at the interior offensive line shows no one with meaningful playing time logged at the position. That's not a rotation question. That's a hole.
The timing is rough because the one thing Arizona did do to shore up the line was lock Hjalte Froholdt into a two-year extension in late August. Froholdt is active and anchors the center spot. But Chase Bisontis tore his MCL in the preseason, Adams is out, and the guard room is thin in a way that wasn't supposed to be this acute heading into the opener against the Chargers.
Brissett is protected on paper. In practice, the right side of that line is going to be sorted out on the fly Sunday. That's a real problem for a team that spent the offseason trying to convince itself the offensive infrastructure was coming together.
