Silovs Blanks Florida, Robertson Scores Twice in PIT Rout
Arturs Silovs stopped all 26 shots he faced to post a shutout as Pittsburgh dismantled Florida 4-0 on Thursday night. Nick Robertson scored twice and four different Penguins skaters finished with two points in a performance that looked utterly dominant from wire to wire.
The game turned on its first real moment of consequence. With 4:41 left in the opening period, Robertson converted a wrist shot — assisted by Connor Dewar and Kris Letang — to shift the score margin from zero to one. That goal, the turning point of the night, appears to have cracked something open for Pittsburgh. Florida never answered, and the Penguins never looked back.
The second period brought more of the same. Hendrix Lapierre buried a wrist shot at 9:59, with Ville Koivunen and Evgeni Malkin picking up the assists, to push it to 2-0. Then the third period was where Pittsburgh buried the story entirely. Malkin — who had set up Lapierre in the second — got his own at 1:40, a wrist shot assisted by Lapierre and Spencer Stastney to make it 3-0. Robertson sealed it with his second of the night at 17:34, Dewar and Blake Lizotte assisting, for the 4-0 final. Every single Pittsburgh goal came off a wrist shot. Whether that speaks to Florida's defensive structure or Pittsburgh's execution, the pattern is hard to ignore.
The story of the night, though, belongs to Silovs. Twenty-six shots, twenty-six saves, nothing through. On the other end, Cooper Black stopped 17 of 20 shots for Florida — a team that generated just 20 attempts all night against a Pittsburgh defense that appears to have suffocated them completely. Robertson's two-goal, two-point night and the shared production across Lapierre, Malkin, and Dewar suggest Pittsburgh's offense is spreading the wealth in a way that looks genuinely difficult to game-plan against. Florida, for their part, looks like a team that had no answers tonight — offensively or otherwise.
